Synopsis: Recent approaches to language, metaphor, and narrative arising in cognitive linguistics and cognitive science research are applied to the Nestle-Aland 28 text of Acts 27 to explore the nature of linguistic processing and interpretation via the shipwreck narrative of Paul. This case study reveals how cognitive approaches language expose how a text moves from language to narrative to interpretation to theology, and what core aspects of a narrative approach to theology would be.
